I wanted to write an adult/young adult romance, not young teen romance (especially for a smutty fest). So. Forgive me my futzing with canon. I hope the story overrides that. The title of the story comes from a line in Jane Austen's Emma, by which this fic was very loosely inspired. I also want to thank K for the beta and brainstorming sessions- couldn't have done it without you! And thank you to my giftee, for giving me a reason to be brave and dip my toes into the next-gen waters for the first time ever.
